Fraxel® Laser Resurfacing

Fraxel® laser resurfacing is an FDA-approved type of skin rejuvenation that can give you more youthful-looking skin, reduce skin discoloration, and tighten wrinkled skin. Women’s Health & Laser Aesthetics Center is pleased to be one of few Minnesota practices that provides Fraxel treatments.

Fraxel works by making microscopic wounds in the damaged areas of your skin, which causes those areas to produce new skin. Fraxel is a non-surgical procedure, and only anesthesia is topical applied to your skin.

Fraxel is effective in reducing the appearance of:

  • Resurfacing
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots and sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Surgery scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Pigment damage or discoloration
  • Darkening of skin related to pregnancy (melasma)
  • Wrinkles
  • Large pores

What can you expect in a Fraxel treatment plan?

A discussion with Dr. Kshettry about what areas of your skin are appropriate for treatment and what results you can expect.

Often, a complete Fraxel treatment is about three sessions, spaced four weeks apart.

Improvement in your skin is visible two to three months after treatment.

What happens after Fraxel treatment?

You will experience a mild sunburn sensation for one to two hours after treatment.

You may have some swelling that will subside in two to three days.

Your skin will have a pinkish tone for about five days, which is a normal sign that skin is healing deeply.

You may apply make-up soon after treatment.

Some patients are able to return to routine activities, including work and social obligations, the same day of treatment. Others require a little more time, depending upon their skin condition and treatment.

You must use sunscreen to protect your skin after treatment. We recommend using a moisturizing screen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

  • Skin science that delivers dramatic results
  • Safe non-invasive treatment with minimal recovery time for all skin types
